What are compression stockings?
Compression garments are specially knitted lower limb or upper limb stockings, with a graduated pressure to improve lymphatic and blood flow in cases where it is deficient or diseased.
Typical reasons for needing compression stockings are:
Tired and heavy legs
Swelling
Spider veins
Varicose veins
Occupations that require long days of standing or sitting
For most people, wearing compression stockings feels comfortable and easy to manage.
We offer a variety of compression stockings in Downtown Vancouver
Some people may find some compression stockings difficult to put on (ie. those with arthritis or flexibility limitations).
Others are concerned they might look industrial and unfashionable. Cost may also be a deterrent for some, as the most effective and comfortable stockings are higher quality.
By asking questions related to mobility, symptoms, and individual needs, we can determine which type of stocking would be best.
On offer are a wide range of fabrics that are beneficial for fragile skin or those with dexterity issues, fashionable (or business-friendly) choices, and natural fibre blends for those who have sensitivities.
Most private insurance plans cover up to 100% of the cost. We can also arrange for coverage through the Ministry of Social Development as appropriate.
